Baby Driver (2017) and Kita-Kita (2017)

Double movie review mostly because I haven't watched anything new lately
For this edition of #DobyDoesStuff I'll go over two of the must-see films for August (even if they're not showing anymore)

Baby Driver (2017)

With a director like Edgar Wright at its helm you know this film won't go wrong (heh). This action comedy film sets out to bring its audience on a roller coaster of a ride with its fast paced action sequences, wide cast of characters, and really appropriate soundtrack. And on the topic of its soundtrack, it isn't forced like some other film around August last year (*cough* suicide squad *cough*). It was organic in the sense that you'd really have an emotional attachment with Ansel Elgort's character as the film went on. There really isn't much to pick on in terms of this films weaknesses except for maybe Lily James' portrayal of Elgort's love interest but this could probably be due to Filipino tastes influencing me over time

Is baby driver worth the watch? Most definitely.

Is it worth watching again? YES

10/10 for me (originally a 9 but considering all the blink and you'll miss details you could find, this film is a masterpiece in my books)

Kita Kita (2017)

With how indie film quality has been increasing here in the Philippines it's getting hard to enter the cinema with low expectations but unlike other local films it wasn't even advertised much. The only reason I knew about it was because it was showing in my local cinema and that it just reached 300 million Pesos in the Box Office. Asides from knowing Empoy was a comedian I was in the dark (cause it's dark in the cinema) with everything but leaving the cinema and almost in tears too, I knew deep down that this film was perfect in my eyes. The cinematography was great encompassing so many sights in Japan that you'd want to go there (even more than you do now possibly) the same way that K drama fans want to go to (South) Korea. Empoy and de Rossi were just a treat in this film really showing as to why this film reached its current status. And it's plot is storytelling at its finest. There were so many clues that once you see them you'd be amazed at how they were skipped early on.

Without saying more about this film, I really do suggest you watch it while it's still in cinemas. An easy 10/10 for me.
