Movie Sequels and You
Let's put the movie reviews aside for a bit and talk about
some of the upcoming sequels coming this 2018 and dabble a bit into the realm
of new films out of the horizon. To add to the film hype let's even include
films coming out this week just because we can. Also just to add to a bit more
hype to these upcoming films I'll be adding a quick commentary to each of these
films.
Sequels aren't everything though. With new films looming over the horizon, there's so much to look forward to.
Ocean's 8
I'll be frank about this one. I never really watched any of
the previous Ocean's movies but from the trailer alone all I could think of is
how they went all ghostbusters on it again and replaced the main leads with
women. Will it be good or would it follow in Ghostbusters footsteps? The
reviews beg to differ but for now let's give it a 6. Heist movies are always a
fun thing.
Note: After watching the film it's a solid 9.5/10. It's fact paced and witty enough to keep you on the film at all times but at the end of it all, there isn't enough wow or enough to tug at your heart strings to get a 10.
The Incredibles 2
I N C R E D I B L E. Before Disney acquired the Marvel
properties last 2009, there was only 1 Superhero film and like all Disney-Pixar
films, if you were a child during the time of its showing it would be a film
you'd remember forever. I for one am excited to enter the world of Disney
Superheroics before the Marvel acquisition since like all Disney Pixar films,
the art and music will be amazing and here's to hoping for a Marvel Incredibles
crossover.
Ant Man and the Wasp
The Marvel films following the first Avengers film is such a
breath of fresh air that it's hard to believe sometimes that the first
Guardians of the Galaxy Film and Ant Man belong to the same cinematic universe.
Ant Man was an accessible film for newer fans following Scott Lang instead of
an older Hank Pym leading to some great comedy and action sequences. The
infinity war event just happened recently too but what ever did happen to our
none-spider based insect heroes? :O
Hotel Transylvania 3
Adam Sandler films have this weird love hate relationship
where the live action films get worse over time (Jack and Jill) while the
animated films get better over time. Hotel Transylvania is that animated film.
The first was funny and witty for its time while the second was charming and
sweet but let's see if the third installment after a TV series no less would
follow the same trend of Kung Fu Panda.
Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-it-Ralph 2
I'm a self-confessed pop culture nerd and a gamer to some
extent so the news of the first Wreck-it-Ralph including some retro gaming
icons made me so giddy that I couldn't wait for its trailer. Seeing the likes
Zangief from the street fighter series and if I'm not mistaken a zombie from
either resident evil or the house of the dead just made me so hype that to this
day even after watching it so many times its still in my top 10 movies to watch
when you're bored. Just the easter eggs alone made it so rewatchable and when
it comes to the sequel I'm still excited because this isn't a LAN party
anymore. The internet is where it's at <3
Johnny English Strikes Again
Rowan Atkinson is a funny man. If you wanna see some good
comedy look up some old mister Bean episodes particularly the live action ones
or even the Mr Bean films. The Johnny English series of films is what would
happen if you brough the Austin Power films to a broader audience with the Brit
being played by an actual Brit and the jokes being more appealing. Who's up for
some fish and chips?
Sequels aren't everything though. With new films looming over the horizon, there's so much to look forward to.
Teen Titans Go! To The Movies
Originally thought of as the disgusting offspring of the
original Teen Titans cartoon many years back, Teen Titans Go! is the kind of
show you'd really have to let mature before it could be better. Now finding its
role as a parody off its former self and an outlet for Cartoon Network's pop
culture know-how, Go! is one of those cartoons worth watching here and there.
If the Darkseid event is any indicator of how this movie would be, I'm all for
it. They even brought back Slade(or Deathstroke just to be this films villain
and they're even evoking Deadpool of all things.
Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse
Between every film incarnation of Spiderman and this film,
Into the Spiderverse is the one I want to last the longest. I want action
fiures, tv shows and everything in between. Ran out of ideas for which
Spiderman to use? Why not use all of them. On a serious note though, this film
is a great way to introduce Miles Morales to the wider audience and with the
right set-up, even let the world be ready for other Spider-men.
Christopher Robin
Winnie the Pooh is one of those cherished and beloved
characters that no matter how it's presented, it would always be wonderful. I
remember one time as a kid I was playing kingdom hearts and Pooh suddenly came
out. It was a welcome addition to an otherwise incredible game. This film
revolves around Christopher Robin having grown up but just because he got a
little older didn't mean his friend left him too. With Paddington Bear, Ted,
Yogi Bear and now Pooh in the mix, I can already see the live action Carebears
movie coming into fruition soon.
Crazy Rich Asians
We support tita Krissy haha
The Happytime Murders
No sesame all street. The Happtime Murders is a murder
mystery with muppets and profanity. It's literally the same guys that made the
muppets and they took away the child friendly environment. I think that's all I
need to know since I'll be watching this film and enjoying every minute of it
(I hope).
and not getting too ahead of myself something for 2019
How to Train Your Dragon 3
Watch the trailer and prepare your tissues cause you're
gonna be in for a ride.
And that's just what I'm looking forward to. There are many
more fimls coming like the Halloween Remake and the IT sequel but sadly that's
all the time I got for now.
