Pre Infinity War Hype Review
Gather around fanboys and bandwagon fans alike because the day we've all been waiting for finally came. Avengers Infinity War, the third installment of Marvel's colossus of a film series, recently showed here in the Philippines (April 25). The literal culmination more than 10 years of films under the Marvel brand, Infinity War is expected to top all expectations leaving its audience speechless. Speaking of expectations though, let's just run through a few things before going through what I'd be wanting from Infinity War.
1. This version of the Avengers doesn't include any mutants or any members of the fantastic 4.
2. 5 out of the 6 infinity stones had been revealed in prior films with the last stone probably being here.
3. So many retcons had to be done to compensate for the lack of some story elements (i.e. using obscure heroes like the Guardians of the Galaxy).
4. Marvel can turn anything into gold.
5. Each seed leading up to this point had been strategically planted to give us the biggest banger of a film coming from Marvel/
6. Since the Avengers are a Disney property, maybe this film would lead to more random Disney X Marvel crossovers (still got my fingers crossed for the Kingdom Hearts, Star Wars, Marvel Crossover)
Now that that's out of the way, between initial hype in the original trailers being released as well as the quality of Marvel films actually improving over the years, it's hard to imagine giving any superhero movie not by DC at least a 7 or 8 out of 10. Think about it, nobody even cared about the Guardians of the Galaxy up until the film came out and nobody expected it to be as good as it was. Would Infinity War flop? That would be a catastrophic occurrence because seriously though, who in their right mind would even think the Avengers would go under. It's not like the film rushed multiple heroes all at once and made a superhero crossover expecting all the character flaws to be covered all at once (ahem DC Teamup movies ahem).
Anyway as of the moment, with what I know as a comic guy and a movie guy, I'm expecting at least an 8 with what I know and knowing how the Russo brothers' work when it comes to Marvel movies, I'm in for a heck of a ride.
