Deadpool 2 Hype Review

From the PG realm of Marvel films to the down and dirty, Deadpool 2 is the kind of film that would make you wonder why superhero films weren't as good as this when they first came out. Then again if it weren't for Green Lantern being janky and Deadpool's portrayal in X-men Origins: Wolverine being questionable, we wouldn't be treated to what I would consider the personification of Ryan Reynolds in film form. Enough about that though, let's get straight to the good stuff.

A film the whole family can enjoy
Before watching the film, as a new viewer, you don't really need to be engrossed in the Deadpool franchise to enjoy it or appreciate it. Like comics? That's good. Like the X-men? That great. Do you enjoy fun and have a really lowbrow sense of humor? Well aren't you in for a treat. Deadpool isn't just another mindless comedy looking to capitalize on it's R-16 rating going heavy on it's violence and innuendos, it is THE mindless film that not only serves as a wonderful "family" film but also opened the floodgates to superhero movies that go above and beyond the PG rating. Remember how good Logan was? Yeah that's all thanks to Deadpool.

Anyway let's talk about DP2 the film itself breaking it down into the good, the bad and the wonderfully obscure.

The Good

Not edgy at all
- Definitely in a league of its own when it comes to superheroics, Deadpool follows the usual film tropes, plot development and all adding its own twist on things.
- Speaking of twists, the humor is on another level with the opening sequences taking what FOX considers as sacred and just spitting on it in a good way.
- Not taking itself too seriously leading to so many spots where you could just burst out laughing any moment.
- Wonderful use of FOX properties whether it be the actors, footage, music or even just taking a jab at their other films, Deadpool delves deeper into the X-men franchise bringing in one of my personal favorite villains back to the fray (No spoilers here, the fanboy in me just enjoyed it so much)
- Imaginative portrayal of luck as a superpower (Again no spoilers here, the whole sequence was amazing)
- CABLE!!!! (This is a big deal for me since after the first time I learned who Cable was from Marvel Vs Capcom, seeing him in the big screen firing a hyper viper beam gave me shivers)
 - POWER CHARACTER HOSS FIGHT
- Shade so deep the DC universe isn't just getting green with envy (lol Green Lantern), it's edginess is just becoming a meme at this point
- Yukio \:D/

The Bad

- Take away the dubstep, the humor and all the cameos and at the end of the day, the plot of Deadpool follows the usual Superhero plot A La Batman with more guns, violence and crude humor all over.
- No obvious Stan Lee Cameo :(

The Wonderfully Obscure

Chibi Deadpool is kinda there?
- SO.MANY.CAMEOS.
- LUCK IS THE BEST SUPER POWER
- X-FORCE
- THIS THEME RIGHT HERE
- BABY.LEGS.
- Fighting dirty never looked so heroic
- Mutant Easter Eggs a plenty
- Why is Brad Pitt here :o
- Dolly Parton and murder is a surprisingly good mix
- Fight scenes and lines ripped straight from other movies including Batman V Superman and Captain America Civil War to name a few
- If you have the time, I highly recommend going through the Deadpool 2 posters, the marketing for this film is just plain incredible.
- Peter is all of us trying to survive this day and age

Step aside Peter Parker, this is the best Peter now

There's not really much to say about Deadpool 2 other than to watch it ASAP. Sure its humor is low brow, obscure and oftentimes just plain rude but considering the character of Deadpool, is there really any more you should expect? Cable was the perfect straight man to Deadpool's joker and if the comics are anything to go by, there are so many wonderful stories with these two waiting to happen.

9/10 for me. Watch it and laugh throughout. Hope you can catch all the cameos and references though because I sure as heck didn't.
